How much Call Credit do I have left on
my Virtual Calling Card?
Ring the Access Number from the mobile you bought the Card with
- or from any other phone if you've got your PIN - the voice prompt
will tell you how much credit you have remaining.
Can I top up before my current Card runs out?
Sure, just send another
TXT2CALL message to buy more Call Credit - exactly the same as when
you initially bought your first Card. (As described on our front
page)
What are the Access Numbers for my
Virtual Calling Card?
The main Access Number is 020 7124 6666 - this is a regular
UK "landline" number.
We also have a Freephone Access Number which you might want to use
if you're calling from a different phone. It's 0800 594 6666 -
but remember that using it will add an extra
2p/minute surcharge to your Call
Rates (or 20p/min, if you call it from a payphone).
Don't use the 0800 number from your mobile phone -
your mobile network will still charge you to call it and you'll
be paying the 2p surcharge. (Worse still, most UK networks don't even
include 0800 numbers in any free/contract minutes - so they'll charge
you extra!)
Can I use my Virtual Calling Card from a different phone?
Yes. Provided you've got the PIN from the confirmation message (the
response you get back when you buy a Virtual Calling Card by text),
you can spend your Call Credit from any UK phone.
From any UK phone1, you can call one of the Access
Numbers,
then enter that PIN when prompted. You can then check your remaining
Call Credit and make great-value calls as normal!
(1 If it's not your phone, you should
ask its owner first! If it's a landline, you could offer to
use the Freephone Access Number - it wouldn't cost the phone-bill-payer
anything, and only costs you an extra 2p/minute.)
Is there a connection charge with
the Virtual Calling Card?
Yes. For calls made using Virtual Calling Card credit, the connection
charge is equivalent to the per-minute rate for that call - up to a maximum of 15p.
For example,
a four-minute call to a 5p/min destination would
cost 25p (5p connection + 20p for the call time).
Will my Virtual Calling Card expire?
Yes - if you don't use it for 90 days, it will expire and you will lose the call credit. (This means you'd need to Top Up again to be able to use the services.)
If you don't make international calls very often, we suggest that you consider using our Landline Instant services instead.
It takes a while to dial numbers by hand – is there a faster way?
Yes!
You can store the Access Number and the destination you want to call, as a single entry in your mobile phone's phonebook, with a "p" character between them. (The "p" tells your phone to Pause between calling the Access Number and sending your destination.)
The completed phone number should look like this: 02071246666p0015551212
(if "00 1 555 1212" was the Destination you wanted to call)
To insert a "p" into a phone number:
- On Nokia phones, press * three times
- On SonyEricsson and Motorola phones, press and hold *
- for other makes, please see your phone's manual
